MARINE LIFE ON THE MANACLES REEF10 YEARS OF SEASEARCH SURVEYS AND MARINE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOWING THE RICHNESS OF FAUNA AND FLORA OF THE CORNISH CONTINENTAL SHELF. (This is the  principle reason why the Cornish Continental Shelf is one of the  Richest  Sustainable Fisheries in the World.)

MATT SLATER is the MARINE AWARENESS OFFICER FOR CORNWALL WILDLIFE TRUST  AND ALONG WITH UNDERWATER FILM WILL SHOW THE RICHNESS AND HOW CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THIS REEF IS TO OUR CORNISH CONTINENTAL SHELF AND OUR SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES.

         FLOTATION,METAL RECOVERY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF STABLE BUBBLES"   

                 A brief outline: Froth flotation is used extensively in the minerals industry to separate valuable minerals from gangue.This complex process continues to fascinate researchers and frustrate plant operators,not least due to sensitivity to a vast array of variables and their interactions.In this talk we will explore the role of the froth phase in determining and optimising separation performance,and look at challenges that are faced by the minerals processing industry in general,and the flotation community in particular.

             I am taking this opportunity to change our normal monthly event to concentrate more on Field Studies.My great friend and lecturer Charlie Halford used to speak about "Arm Chair Geologists" !These will be informal affairs-slow geology! Where we will use our eyes to see the  rocks and take photos for future reference and ENABLE Members to ask questions as we proceed.

Suggested parking  place at the Gunwalloe Car park. Walk  past the Winnianton Farm to St.Winwalloe's Church, and meet up beside the church at 9-20a.m.We will then proceed to the beach to view the rocks and structural geology and hopefully view folding and various rock types and possible wood fossils,if uncovered, -although not guaranteed, and is different every time I go!!!
